Overall this corse has been great and really fun as well. If you are struggling they are always willing to help you, hinting an answer to you or re-explaining it. They make the learning fun by some times including game and I think its a good corse to try.

Iris joined FunTech in 2019 on the CreativeTech & TechPro term time course - the classes are extremely thorough and gave her an excellent all round understanding of Microsoft Office suite and on the creative side an introduction to graphics, animation and web design. Now in 4th year

Our son is now in his 4th year of doing Term-Time sessions. It is one of the highlights of his week, and has learnt so much. He is only 15, but now doing university level coding.
Wish schools provided this option, as will be a great skill for anyone in the future.

My son Adam has enrolled on to the CreativeTech course this year after attending two camps in the summer. The term time offering is an excellent product with Adam engaged once a week alongside his normal school routine. He's learning how to use Photoshop which is amazing to see, given he is currently being schooled at home due to the lockdown he is still very enthusiastic when it comes to his weekly lessons and has even been able to use these new skills on work this term, producing what he describes as 'sick' leaflets for his space topic!

FunTech has a great blend of content and fun which keeps kids engaged at the course level, and if he doesn't quite get the lesson then he's ha a couple of extra sessions to go over and make sure the content is nailed. Its simply brilliant.

Funtech noticed my son's strengths as soon as they met him a few years ago and on hearing this from such cool people, it boosted my son's confidence more than you can imagine! My son is dyslexic and has a slow processing speed, and with the excellent support from all the teachers and staff at Funtech he completed his GCSE IT 2 years early and was thrilled to get an A. I am very proud of him and also grateful to Funtech for spotting him all those years ago and giving me the confidence to let him fly with his GCSEs. He learnt a lot about how to study too, his way, which he can now take through to his other courses. The staff are engaging, fun, knowledgable and most importantly - cool!

I went to a series of one on one tuition sessions for most of a year, to help with an extended project qualification I was doing at the time, involving writing a mod for Minecraft. I had originally intended to use various online tutorials to learn programming techniques, but there were none available which were designed for a beginner and actually explained what the code was doing. My tutor was very good at explaining these things, and I was able to quickly progress from explanation of the language to guidance on how to interpret the code, to creating simple mods and ultimately the mod I had originally hoped to make. He was also willing to spend time outside sessions investigating relevant parts of the code which he hadn't encountered before. Although there were still bugs present when the sessions ended, I had learnt enough to be able to fix (most of) them by myself over the holidays, and got an A* for the project. The programming experience has since been very useful to me in my studies in the computational parts of my university course (mathematics).

Funtech has been nothing short of transformational and life changing for my son. Through Funtech he got two A stars at A level in Computer Science and Mathematics and is now off to study Computing and Maths at Bristol University. What was particularly remarkable is Funtech discovered his aptitude for Maths. Originally he was just doing Computer Science and they encouraged him to start Maths, a subject his school never suggested for A level. Funtech do more than teach very well. They are genuinely passionate about their students and do everything humanly possible to inspire, interest and motivate their students. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The teachers at FunTech were encouraging, helpful, age-appropriate and really helped me to get into something which has become my career, thanks to the effort and enjoyment I had from it at a young age. I first joined FunTech when I was seven in the junior launch pad, learning how to utilize the Microsoft Office programs and giving us really in depth tutorials on how to do things. The teachers were very comforting and encouraging by providing a safe environment for everyone but the best thing I've learnt from FunTech is essential for working: TouchTyping (the ability to type without looking at the keyboard). Wow, my son Mike, aka Pip for reasons of his FunTech related success, studied ‘A’ level computing at the age of 13 & completed with an A grade at the age of 15!

FunTech have inspired him toward what I know, as an IT professional myself, to be the best career in the world.

FunTech repeatedly go the extra mile. When it came to work experience time, FunTech even provided the connection which resulted in Mike attaining a placement at Microsoft.

But how did we get here?

When Mike was in year 8, age 12½ his mum saw a FunTech advert, essentially to teach children to have fun learning how to write computer games. I know myself how fun that can be, so we asked him & took our enthusiastic young man along for an assessment.

From the outset I was quite impressed that they were assessing the children, rather than just taking the money regardless of suitability.

After the assessment they wanted to talk to us, his parents & recommended he didn’t do the write a computer game course, as they felt he was too advanced for it, but recommended another course, more suitable for his abilities.

They saw potential in him that the 11+ had not.

I looked at the skill-set which they were recommending he learned & realised that I wished more of the CV’s I was seeing for people wishing to work for me professionally had those skills & when they did they were the ones I tended to call for interview.

I love programming & the opportunity to give my son that pleasure, especially given his enthusiasm for the idea was something I wasn’t going to miss.

He did the course, although he was the youngest by far more than a year. He was a great success & one thing led to another & a dilemma presented itself. His great FunTech driven success led him to the opportunity to take an ‘A’ level in Computing, to be completed before his year group had even sat their GCSE's!

FunTech had always been very clear that school work had to come first, but then the technology that FunTech teach really is fun. Indeed, school homework can sometimes be boring, but the stuff FunTech do can be light relief. I do say this as someone who himself loves programming.

My concern was that while Mike, as a result of FunTech’s input, was now academically capable of meeting the ‘A’ level challenge, he was still a youngster & was he mature enough to keep this in balance with the rigours of school-work?

Mike was keen, but I went in to speak to FunTech about my concern. Their response was professional, balanced & wise. In the end I decided that the risk of holding Mike back by not engaging FunTech here, given his enthusiasm, well – he had to be supported in his decision to do it. With hindsight I’m so glad that’s the decision I came to.

It’s interesting, when applying for 6th forms, I raised the question when everyone else was talking about predicted & hoped for GCSE grades & whether their child could achieve a 6th form place, I asked the question as to the impact of Mikes early A grade ‘A’ level in Computing, given that we were being told by RGS for one that the key is GCSE results, GCSE results & GCSE results.

The response was physical, the tutor in question physically stepped forward, shook hands & stated “well that IS very encouraging”.

The world is Mike’s oyster, due to in no small part, the footing & inspiration granted to him by FunTech.

He is currently deciding which 6th form to give his support to.

In his free time Mike has written a tool his dad, that’s me, has used professionally.

I started attending FunTech one year after it originally began and I went from programming Lego to Achieving an A-Level in Computing, I always found the staff extremely helpful and enthusiastic, pushing me to achieve my full potential. The FunTech experience definitely changed me for the better and gave me the "can do" attitude to every aspect in life.

FunTech view each student as an individual and cater for each persons needs bringing the best out of them.

Funtech provides a very stable basis for children who are entering a world constantly changing with wonderful new and exciting inventions, people (and gadgets!) they focus not only on the ICT aspect but they offer a lot more in terms of social interaction and moral support, when required, it is not just a place to to learn and come back it is a place to be loved and nourished for the abilities you pose to the world. These guys make you the best YOU can be not just others' expectations. With regards to people who have disabilities, in my opinion Funtech gives them all the support needed, it does not matter what grade you come up with all that matters is that your future is secure. Many children in this world don' t have the opportunity to have such a great place as Funtech, they cannot afford it. I say be thankful for this chance that many people just don't have and make your time here worthwhile. this comment is not just 'Propaganda' that Funtech has forced me to say but it true and from the bottom of my heart would like to thank all members of staff and Shen for giving people such a great chance to succeed. It is a very harsh world out there if you don't work hard you WILL get left behind, be thankful to Funtech. I have been a student at Funtech for not a very long time but once again I would like to sincerely thank once again all members of staff. I have been attending Funtech for 7 almost 8 years now and can honestly say that I have gained so much from being here. I have not only gained exactly what was promised, a vast knowledge about all aspects of computing and dedicated teachers who have pushed me to achieve all goals set not only for Funtech work but also those within my school work as well. All of the teachers are extremely warm, caring and kind and the small, concentrated classes allow for personal attention. Shen, in particular, has been such an exceptional support for me throughout these years and has been a main driving force behind who I am today. She has not only been extremely important in all aspects of my school life but is now also considered as part of my family. Funtech in itself is not only a brilliant education and experience to be part of but also a whole new family which I am honoured to be a part of.

Over the years which I have been coming to Funtech, I have found it brilliant and a very great learning place for all. As it is not just a business to teach the youth different ICT aspects but it is a family where everyone is cared for and can have a good laugh with each other while learning complex or the fundamentals of ICT. Funtech over the years has also built a very good reputation with excellent grades and students working in some of the biggest names in the information and technology industries. So if I were to sum up Funtech in one word it would be; Brilliant.

Back in the autumn of 2002, I climbed tentativly up the steps into FunTech for the very first time. There I experienced the wonders of computing from learning to touch-type all the way to navigating Lego robotic arms.
Now over 11 years later, I'm still here and having a great time. The place has changed over time but I've never stopped and I've carried on. I've made new friends, I've learnt valuable new skills, and had some really fun times. I've even now been given work here and it would have never happened if I hadn't gone up those steps all those years ago.
With FunTech, I've achieved an A grade in ICT, 3 years before I would have done it at school. I've been studying C# programming now for almost 2 years and intend to do the A-Level in Computing after my other GCSE's here.
FunTech is truly one of those places where, even after 11 years, it always feels like something to look forward to. The teaching is some of the best I've ever experienced and the summer courses on offer are really fun too (I intend to do the Minecraft modding course this summer).

Above all though, FunTech has been like a family to me and I have loved all my time here. Thank you Shen and all of my teachers for making this one of the most memorable parts of my childhood and I hope others can experience the joy and fun I've had here.

A great opportunity. Our son achieved A* A level in Computing, a year early. It gave him tremendous confidence and study skills to achieve as well in his other subjects, at school. It also looked so good on his cv, that he got offers from every university on his UCAS application. Our daughter achieved A* at GCSE ICT - 2 years early, which gave her fantastic confidence and prepared her really well to for the challenges of her other GCSEs.

I studied my A-level Computing at Funtech back in 2005. The experience left me with not only a top grade qualification, thanks to the quality and dedication of the staff, but also the confidence and mind-set to go on to achieve my aspirations and goals.

As a result, I have been working as a business consultant for some of the largest multinationals. I have the encouragement and determination of the Funtech staff to thank as a big contributor to my success. At Funtech, every child has their individual needs cared for and the staff work relentlessly to untap ability and potential.

My time at FunTech was very beneficial because I completed the 1 year GCSE before I took my other GCSEs at school, which gave me a head start on my peers in relation to external GCS...

I attended FunTech between 2002 – 2005. During this time I completed the 1 year GCSE and Computing A-Level courses. My time at FunTech was very beneficial because I completed the 1 year GCSE before I took my other GCSEs at school, which gave me a head start on my peers in relation to external GCSE examination preparations. The course was fast paced and consequently very enjoyable. I started my AS-Level during my final years of GCSEs at school, which helped me substantially with my organisational skills, but once again prepared me for the change in academic demand associated with the transition from KS4 to KS5. Finishing the Computing A-Level a year in advance of my others at school was a huge advantage because universities accepted it as part of my conditional offer, which took the pressure off during my final school examination year.
Since my time at Funtech, I have completed a Biology Honours degree at University followed by a Science PGCE at Oxford University. I am currently working as a Science Teacher at a school in Oxfordshire whilst completing a part-time Masters at Oxford University alongside my teaching timetable.
I would recommend FunTech to other people. An extracurricular commitment to a course at FunTech is not only a great way to develop your computer skills; it is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the other transferable skills, such as time management and independence that are essential for further education and future employment.

I completed the 1 year ICT GCSE at FunTech during the 2008-2009 academic year at the age of 12. Prior to this course, I had attended a couple of the holiday courses. The holiday courses taught me various different computer related skills and I enjoyed them so much that I decided to commit to the GCSE course. Despite only doing my GCSE whilst in Year 8 at school, it taught me a lot about exam preparation and skills that were very beneficial to me as I progressed through my work at school. This meant I was less nervous about what to expect when I started my GCSEs because I already had some experience of them unlike my school friends. In addition to this, my FunTech experience encouraged me to present my work to a really high level. I am currently sitting my AS-Levels in Geography, German, English and Psychology. I really enjoyed my time at FunTech and found the teachers fun and approachable. They were really supportive and took a real interest in both your FunTech and school work.

FunTech has inspired my 10 year old son to start learning to touch type, stick with it and become pretty competent at it within a few months. They've been great at pushing, encouraging and rewarding him and making learning a new skill good fun.
