Creative Tech course

Our son enjoyed the course delivered in the three terms. He learned how to use various programs and their application in the creative world. The classes are small and it helps to have a more engaging experience. He continues with Tech Pro this year.

Our son, 10, has just completed the CreativeTech course with FunTech and he has absolutely loved it. He's enjoyed every aspect of the course especially the graphics element. As an aspiring YouTuber (what kid isn't these days!) he has revelled in the fact he can now create graphics for his channel. H

As an aspiring YouTuber (what kid isn't these days!) he has revelled in the fact he can now create graphics for his channel. His introduction to the Adobe platform has given him lots of confidence, so much so he has extended his knowledge by teaching himself the basics of Adobe Premier which wasn't part of the course. All the skills he has learnt have been applied together making his videos slightly less terrible :-)

On a slightly more practical application during the lockdown he was able to utilise his new skills doing his remote school work where he was wowing the teacher with his creations. The added benefit for us was that he was doing his school work enthusiastically as he didn't see it as 'boring'.

The course was fantastically run week on week building on what he has learnt, on the odd occasion where the concepts were not fully understood FunTech picked up on this from their comprehensive feedback system. The concepts were then recapped in an extra session ensuring there were no gaps from the course. Absolutely first-class.

We are looking forward to many more years with FunTech and are excited to see where it takes us.

My son has benefitted greatly from his FunTech courses, and his teachers have also recognised this when working on his projects at school. Learning from home with the Virtual Lab is so easy. 2020-2021 academic year

PureCoder - Level I 3

My teen said really enjoyable and a lot was learnt in a fun engaging way. Definitely a hit.

Funtech have been fabulous. My granddaughter loved, loved the course - it gave her confidence and she really enjoyed every lesson, not only that on the occasion when she needed it, they gave her free catch up time.

Pure Code level 1 and 2 fast track

Our son Vincent enjoyed the pure code level 1 and 2 fast track.
It was good to also have the option of asking for a catch up session before the next lesson to go through and consolidate the more complex topics.
As a result, Vincent has chosen Computer science as one of his GCSE subjects.

I can't praise the level of customer service enough: from the troubleshooting software installation to regular updates and very flexible and understanding with regards to the change in dates, thank you all Funtech departments for your good work. The course contents seems to keep my child motivated

The course contents seems to keep my child motivated at all times, and even when material gets harder, the proactive suggested catch up/support sessions help my child to progress smoothly without any confidence compromise. Great pedagogy and kind, supportive tutors.

Now in 4th year

Our son is now in his 4th year of doing Term-Time sessions. It is one of the highlights of his week, and has learnt so much. He is only 15, but now doing university level coding.
Wish schools provided this option, as will be a great skill for anyone in the future.

My son Adam has enrolled on to the CreativeTech course this year after attending two camps in the summer. The term time offering is an excellent product with Adam engaged once a week alongside his normal school routine. He's learning how to use Photoshop which is amazing to see, given he is currently being schooled at home due to the lockdown he is still very enthusiastic when it comes to his weekly lessons and has even been able to use these new skills on work this term, producing what he describes as 'sick' leaflets for his space topic!

FunTech has a great blend of content and fun which keeps kids engaged at the course level, and if he doesn't quite get the lesson then he's ha a couple of extra sessions to go over and make sure the content is nailed. Its simply brilliant.

My son is dyslexic and has a slow processing speed, and with the excellent support from all the teachers and staff at Funtech he completed his GCSE IT 2 years early and was thrilled to get an A. I am very proud of him and also grateful to Funtech for spotting him all those years ago and giving me the confidence to let him fly with his GCSEs. Funtech has been nothing short of transformational and life changing for my son. Through Funtech he got two A stars at A level in Computer Science and Mathematics and is now off to study Computing and Maths at Bristol University. What was particularly remarkable is Funtech discovered his aptitude for Maths. Originally he was just doing Computer Science and they encouraged him to start Maths, a subject his school never suggested for A level. Funtech do more than teach very well. They are genuinely passionate about their students and do everything humanly possible to inspire, interest and motivate their students. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Wow, my son Mike, aka Pip for reasons of his FunTech related success, studied ‘A’ level computing at the age of 13 & completed with an A grade at the age of 15!

FunTech have inspired him toward what I know, as an IT professional myself, to be the best career in the world.

FunTech repeatedly go the extra mile. When it came to work experience time, FunTech even provided the connection which resulted in Mike attaining a placement at Microsoft.

But how did we get here?

When Mike was in year 8, age 12½ his mum saw a FunTech advert, essentially to teach children to have fun learning how to write computer games. I know myself how fun that can be, so we asked him & took our enthusiastic young man along for an assessment.

From the outset I was quite impressed that they were assessing the children, rather than just taking the money regardless of suitability.

After the assessment they wanted to talk to us, his parents & recommended he didn’t do the write a computer game course, as they felt he was too advanced for it, but recommended another course, more suitable for his abilities.

They saw potential in him that the 11+ had not.

I looked at the skill-set which they were recommending he learned & realised that I wished more of the CV’s I was seeing for people wishing to work for me professionally had those skills & when they did they were the ones I tended to call for interview.

I love programming & the opportunity to give my son that pleasure, especially given his enthusiasm for the idea was something I wasn’t going to miss.

He did the course, although he was the youngest by far more than a year. He was a great success & one thing led to another & a dilemma presented itself. His great FunTech driven success led him to the opportunity to take an ‘A’ level in Computing, to be completed before his year group had even sat their GCSE's!

FunTech had always been very clear that school work had to come first, but then the technology that FunTech teach really is fun. Indeed, school homework can sometimes be boring, but the stuff FunTech do can be light relief. I do say this as someone who himself loves programming.

My concern was that while Mike, as a result of FunTech’s input, was now academically capable of meeting the ‘A’ level challenge, he was still a youngster & was he mature enough to keep this in balance with the rigours of school-work?

Mike was keen, but I went in to speak to FunTech about my concern. Their response was professional, balanced & wise. In the end I decided that the risk of holding Mike back by not engaging FunTech here, given his enthusiasm, well – he had to be supported in his decision to do it. With hindsight I’m so glad that’s the decision I came to.

It’s interesting, when applying for 6th forms, I raised the question when everyone else was talking about predicted & hoped for GCSE grades & whether their child could achieve a 6th form place, I asked the question as to the impact of Mikes early A grade ‘A’ level in Computing, given that we were being told by RGS for one that the key is GCSE results, GCSE results & GCSE results.

The response was physical, the tutor in question physically stepped forward, shook hands & stated “well that IS very encouraging”.

The world is Mike’s oyster, due to in no small part, the footing & inspiration granted to him by FunTech.

He is currently deciding which 6th form to give his support to.

In his free time Mike has written a tool his dad, that’s me, has used professionally.

One very happy parent

I can not begin to express how highly I rate FunTech. My three children have been involved with FunTech since they were 5 years old and with 2 GCSE A stars already in the bag they are now attending a range of classes from Computer Programming to GCSE maths to preparation for Common Entrance.

Touch typing made fun

FunTech has inspired my 10 year old son to start learning to touch type, stick with it and become pretty competent at it within a few months. They've been great at pushing, encouraging and rewarding him and making learning a new skill good fun.
