purecoder 2 review

i had done some other funtech courses which made school computer science very easy for me, and purecoder 2 has taught me more advanced things. our tutor helped us and stayed after class a bit to make sure we had the code and understood it and taught well.

Funtech PC01

The lessons were fun and interesting, I found out a lot more about python than I used to know. I could understand everything, although at the start it was hard because I had no idea about much of python.

I really enjoyed the lessons this year. My favourite lessons included some of the hands-on programming and creating trace tables as well as learning about network topologies and binary. I found I learnt best during the lessons where Jake asked us questions in turn since it made sure I was listening and understood all the material. I also really enjoyed whenever there was a task for us to complete. Most of the lessons went at a good pace but some topics such as network protocols and computer architecture had a lot of slides to cover. So I would be taking notes on the information (as I did in all the lessons) and during most other lessons I would be able to take notes and understand the material simultaneously but in some topics, such as computer architecture and network protocols, due to us having to cover a lot of material in a short time span, it was hard for me to understand and take notes so I often just took notes and came back after class to understand the material. Overall, this year was good because the lessons were explained well and in detail. Most lessons were quite interesting and weren't boring which was good so I kept concentration with them.

the year at funtech was really beneficial for me. I learnt and spread my understanding of computers and different computer process and what goes on inside of them. it has helped me remember and will be a great impact on me when i do my computer science GCSE's in the future.

the lessons are very fun and i am always excited for the Saturday morning lessons. we learn a lot in each 80 minute session and our teacher jake is very kind and if we have a problem he will always help us. also funtech offers prep lessons if you are struggling which is very helpful

I enjoyed attending the lessons by fun tech and learning coding from them and developing that knowledge as the weeks went by. I can now do coding which I couldn't a couple of months ago and fun tech really helped me to do that to the best of my ability. The only thing was that sometimes I didn't really understand the concepts very well and I could only take a catch-up lesson which I felt wasn't sufficient. Also, I think I didn't get to practice the concepts I was taught in class a lot. My tutor was very kind and supportive and extremely patient when I did the one-to-one sessions, he really took the time to explain concepts to me that I could find difficult. I would come to Fun Tech again next year and build on the knowledge that I've learnt in the past couple of months.

Funtech Python was Great

It was great fun learning things in python and I understood it all. I hopefully will be doing Funtech PC03 next year and I had much fun in learning how to code!

These terms at funtech and lessons were very fun and taught me a lot of Python, I understand a lot about different topics and hopefully I will do PC03!

Very fun and interesting

I had a lot of fun this year learning all about object orientation in python. The course has a perfect difficulty level and all of the bits that I didn't understand were always taken care of by an additional lesson.

Amazing Experience!

This year, throughout my study of Python, I found all the topics extremely fun and interesting. I learned a lot, and anything that I struggled with I was eventually taught and learned it. I would definitely sign up for another course.

Amazing year

I quite enjoyed the coding but I don't think I can continuing next year because it's quite expensive but I have learnt all need to which I appreciate.

Super Course: definitely recommend!

I have learnt so much from Funtech this year, and they have been so great. I have had prep sessions if my understanding was not great and lessons were flexible and able to be rescheduled. Thank you Funtech for an amazing year!

This year I have found the course to be a lot better structured, which is a significant improvement. I appreciate the repeated checks between videos and mini quizzes to check I understand concepts. However, in the future, I believe that the course would be bettered by having more material for students to look over in their personal time, like a textbook you would have at school to refer to. This would ensure learning as it would allow students to independently look over concepts and consolidate them in their own time, without having to set up a paid consolidation lesson with a tutor every time a problem arises. This would give students more confidence in their lessons, and would provide them with notes to look back to after the course has finished, rather than having to search through - sometimes unannotated - class code.

I have found my 1:1 lessons with Samuel extremely helpful, as I am able to bring up concerns and ask questions immediately, without feeling insecure of peers' judgements. He has been very patient and always answers questions thoroughly, ensuring my understanding. This has been a highly positive change in comparison to some tutors I have had in the past.

I am currently not sure whether I will continue with Funtech next year - though I find the content positively challenging, I acknowledge that I may not have enough time next year to continue the course as I am studying 4 A Levels. Also, I find that though I have thoroughly enjoyed my lessons this year, I am not sure as to whether I am willing to gamble my parents' money on lessons next year, as I have not found my previous experiences with Funtech to be fulfilling. However, I will be sure to think over my decision in the coming weeks as I know that I would be interested in taking a STEM subject in university. I very much appreciate Funtech for challenging me in my coding and I am sure that I will continue to further my learning whether or not I decide to stay for another year.

3rd year in Funtech

I like the coding like class like MySQL , Excel and also the HTML programming. But I did not enjoy the Adobe illustrator , animate classes and were not interesting for me.

Funtech PC03 20-21

The year has been great - engaging and novel content, explained in an easy way.
The Tutor was good and managed to explain content in an understandable way, and always had extra stuff for the end.
I would love to come back next year for the Unreal course!

Purecoder level 3

I've enjoyed this year of Funtech a lot. I found it the most interesting year so far in terms of software used and what we were learning. The tutor was great and very helpful when I was stuck

I learned so much at funtech in the pure coder level 2 course, it was a bit challenging at times but definitely worth it.
