The camp was really enjoyable and informative. I learnt a lot throughout the week and had a lot of fun along the way. The course is well structured but the way it suggests to write the code can sometimes be a little clunky, however Lem was an amazing teacher, helping out with this. Overall, I thi...

Great fun, would recommend to any python enjoyer. You do interesting and engaging activities such as making chatbots and image recognition software. The residential part was good, the only mildly annoying thing was the 9pm bedtime. Overall, I had a very enjoyable time.
FunTech Response
I am sorry that you had to go to bed at 9pm, we would love to let you stay up later, however, it is one of the Tonbridge School rules that we have to abide by. However lights out for our older children was between 10pm and 10:30pm.

I believe it was the one day which you simply didn't enjoy the content, but to be able to progress onto more advanced and exciting topics, sadly we have to make sure you understand those concepts.

FunTyper - Touch Typing
26 August, 2022
Touch typing is never going to be the most interesting thing in the world however the teachers really do listen to you. Will give you a useful skill, the course was good but maybe needed 2 weeks to be able to fully touch-type. :)
FunTech Response
As you say whilst it's not one our most exciting courses, it does deliver one of the most valuable skills.
The concept behind this course is that we give you all the building blocks build a good part of your muscle memory and then you have a FunTyper license for 3 months, so you can continue practising and improving.

I thought that this week was fun since we were playing the games and learning at the same time! But I have still not learnt all of the keys this week.

The concept behind this course is that you learn the methodology for touch typing, build a substantial part of your muscle memory and then are given a 3 month FunTyper license so you can continue practising and completing all the keys.
Glad you had fun.

Sadly, the school that we were running at had some unforeseen problems in the playground which made it unsafe for the children to use.
We had to adapt quickly and tried to make it as easy as possible for the children.
With reference to the USB, to add this would mean an increase in the fees and we feel that most families have a spare datastore that they can bring with them.

We have a zero tolerance policy on any negative behaviour.
Sadly, this summer we had to ask for one child to be picked up on the Monday due to bad behaviour.
Without going into details there were a number of external factors that we were asked to consider, and against my better judgement and whilst I was having daily conversations with him and his parents, I took the decision to let it him continue.
The FunTech team at Tonbridge should not bear any responsibility for this.
I did consider moving him into a one-to-one group, however, I felt this might affect him negatively.
That said, in hindsight, I should have informed all the other parents of the children in his class, and perhaps we should have asked him to leave.
For this I can only apologise.

I learnt a lot about AI during this camp, and how it works. It would have been useful to go into more depth with a few topics rather than covering all of them briefly.
FunTech Response
This course is an introduction to AI Machine Learning, to the point where all the students are able to independently code some small projects.
This topic is vast and to go into more depth, requires a lot more time.
We do have a year long term time course on our PureCoder series which does satisfy the more in-depth learning.
Glad to hear you learnt lot about AI during the camp and hope it has piqued your interest.

I really loved the course especially all the things we learnt but I didnt really like giving a review everyday
FunTech Response
The daily comments you leave are not reviews, but feedback to let us know what is going well and what isn't.
We check these at the end of the day and take action, so for example if you didn't understand a particular concept, then we are either able to book a prep for you or recover in the next lesson.
Despite that really pleased to read that you loved the course.

The course was really fun and beneficial to my knowledge of coding Python. However, for the past 3.5 days, we have just been coding games, which can get fairly boring after you have coded the majority of games.
FunTech Response
I am sorry that you found the last day and a half boring.
However, the idea behind the last day and a half is for you to put your python knowledge into action by coding a variety of different games.
To be a good coder, you not only need to know the constructs but need lots of coding practice which the tutors can help you with if you get stuck.
However, good to hear it was fun and beneficial.

I am really sorry for this experience.
We had a couple of characters in the class that were definitely challenging.
I believe that your son had a recurring disagreement with one of these characters.
The action we took was the HQ team spoke directly to these children and their parents.
When on the next day this did not improve we split the class and made sure they were kept separated at breaktimes.

He did find the first day very slow, so maybe the pace needs to move faster or be more practical to improve it.
