Safina had a fantastic time doing this course. I was a little unsure at first with her being so young, but to my surprise she was attentive throughout and looked forward to each session. She was excited to share her achievements with me too, which was great. Her tutor was amazing! He was so patient and calm and repeated instructions as many times as needed to ensure each child understood the concepts taught.
We will definitely be signing her up again next year!

Great course which Archie enjoyed AND learnt some skills from. The course leader, Sam, was excellent and had the patience of a saint.

Java coder

Yousef has learnt many new things on this course.
There was no assessment at the end to see what he's absorbed or notes taken to ensure that he doesn't forget them.
I know the teacher asked them to take notes but he didn't follow up to see that they did.

Thank you for the virtual Java course: our son was enthusiastic throughout the week, learned a lot and was eager to share his projects with us. Given that I required individual support sessions to pre-install the required software I was very grateful for your exceptional care and service. When our internet connectivity let us down one day during the course, your representative followed up with a call and offered an extra one-on-one time for our son to catch up on the missed learning the very next day, which I believe goes above and beyond a usual level of support. We were big fans of Funtech residential camps before the lockdown, but having tried the virtual camp now, I can hundred percent recommend it to any parent!

Our son has been talking about creating a mobile phone games for a few years, so he was very happy to finally have an opportunity to do so. He doesn't usual enjoy a camp where he doesn't know anyone, however, being virtual meant he had a chance to get to know them all immediately and settled in quickly. He's been very excited to show us what he has done everyday, and even spending extra hours outside of the camp hours prepping for his own project. Hope you keep the virtual camp even after the pandemic, as we are not very close to the physical camp location, and it worked brilliantly.

My son really liked the course and enjoyed the format and the content. His tutor was very good and knowledgeable. Overall very good first experience in coding and programming leading to more- I will definitely be booking more courses.

This was an extremely well-organised and engaging course. My 10-year old daughter took a morning course and I'm glad we opted for the half-day rather than whole day because it was full-on. She was engaged the whole time and really enjoyed it. I was really impressed that I got two calls to remind Ava to complete the feedback form at the end of the day, and to start early(!) the next day when she signed off accidentally early one day. I highly recommend it!

My son enjoyed the course and we all had fun trying out his game. We hired a laptop. Really appreciated the follow up calls to arrange delivery, setting up and collection. This is the second course we have done, will definitely be looking out for more new ones to do.

The teacher Will was amazingly patient with the cheerfully chatty kids. And got the course done.

I'm happy that i can use this as stepping stone to getting my daughter coding, starting from a point of joy.

Alexia is an 11 yr old non-native English speaker complete beginner with games and screens. Probably wrongly, we were obsessed about keeping her away from screens and did a great job. The consequence was that her gap with any other regular kid is very wide when it comes to tech. We came to the conclusion there is no escape from the tech world for the young generation and wanted to introduce her to the space. I had been following Funtech for a while since a leaflet landed in my box. Alexia was initially registered for a summer residential camp. We were very happy that Funtech was making a great effort to still trying to deliver the programs despite the cancellation due to the virus.
So the course started and Alexia really, really struggled. She couldn't cope with the content, the program and the pace. Funtech was extremely honest in providing very valuable feedback while coming up with an option so Alexia could continue to learn at her own pace. I would not get into details but everything was about Alexia gaining a positive learning experience and Funtech was very flexible and very generous. Cato, the teacher was excellent, very patient and always advancing in content despite minimal feedback from Alexia. Alexia loved the class and was always looking forward to the next session despite her struggles. Mamta was reaching to us daily to discuss the situation and to make sure things were going in the right direction. Adrian also was very helpful.
Now is up to Alexia to continue to learn and, we hope she does that and, comes back to funtech for a different course but for sure she has been given a great introduction to a complete new world. With sincere thanks to all in Funtech. Jose

Questionable pricing policy

Adding £100 to the cost and then offering a £100 discount seems really quite questionable...

Very engaging and comprehensive course

I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand. The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course...

The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course with a tech support expert.

Matt was excellent at tailoring the content to the level of the group and very good at giving 1-to-1 support - he was extremely helpful with more advanced concepts and taking it beyond the limitations of the software.

Only area for improvement would be to find a way to pass complex technical issues (with one student) on to a support person so that it doesn't hold up the rest of the class.
It would also be nice to do some sort of show-and-tell on the last day where each child could show the others what they have created.

overall though it was a great 2 weeks

This was a rather unfortunate start to the course as a disproportionate number of families had not completed their Pre-camp Check List - to address this all families are now being contacted prior to the course start date.

Luca enjoyed some parts of this course but struggled with the virtual side. With his dyslexia he struggles remembering the instructions so we ended up taking a photo because the instructions moved on. He also found the constant chattering of some students very off putting, making it hard to concentrate and hear. The instructor was very helpful and Luca gained confidence to use the messaging chat to ask for help over the first few days. Its a hard course but very interesting and Luca said he would have preferred a classroom - at least he tried!
