Amazing learning support from such a young age

Astrid is quite laid back and quiet - I wasn't sure if she and her twin would be interested in coding. They mainly play Roblox, but were too young for that course, so we enrolled them in Minecraft coding lessons and they were soon creating new worlds and spawning new life forms together. They were a little behind the older boys who knew the game and we were separated off with a dedicated teacher to help at the right level, which was fantastic.
There were a few blips at the start when we had to sort a virtual machine as one of our computers wasn't high enough spec, but everyone was so patient and tech support was superb.
I think Funtech really sparked an interest in the maths behind the games too - the girls are keen to do more next year and as they were able to take Childcare Vouchers as payment we'll be back next holidays for more, hopefully IRL, but virtual was made to work almost as well.

Outstanding Virtual Camp

The Minecraft Mod Virtual Camp was fantastic for my Eight-year old. He really enjoyed it and learned a lot from three different instructors, all of which were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and excellent with young children. We will definitely be joining additional Funtech camps in the futur

My boy is seven years old and although he is obsessed with Minecraft we have not been allowing him to play regularly because we worry about game addiction. We thought learning how to mod would be a good way for him to do something he really wants to do while being a creator rather than just a consumer.

Oliver was an amazing teacher and our boy learned so much every day. He developed a lot of familiarity with the PC, using the keyboard and mouse, running programs, and finding his way around a developer environment. Every day I have came home from work and he was eager to show off his latest inventions. He retained a lot of his knowledge and was able to independently create things at a later date.

Overall, I give this camp my highest recommendation!

It was very interactive and the group discussions appeared active. The content from modding blocks to equipment and fully automated farming had him engaged .

We have been wanting our son to do a camp with FunTech for a long time but unfortunately they didn't have a location in our area. The virtual camp offering has really opened up the courses for everyone. Adam, our son, absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to join the course each day, the tutor was brilliant and Adam was enthusiastically showing me what he had done each day. One day he hadn't quite grasped the concept fully and FunTech proactively gave me a call offering a 1-2-1 session to ensure he wasn't missing out in any way, it really is a first class operation. We have already booked another camp and are looking at term time as well, we are excited to see where this goes.

My son was completely engaged for the whole two weeks!

My son has loved his coding camp. He’s been engaged and interested for the full duration. His only disappointment was that the virtual machine kicked him out 15 minutes after the class finished meaning he didn’t have time to share with us the things he had created. FunTech Response Oh goodness,

Oh goodness, I am sorry. Had we known we would have gladly left his Virtual Machine on for longer.

My daughter loved the experience. She learnt a lot and is now enjoying creating mods with minecraft. The response from the team was timely and very professional. Joining the course from Nairobi, Kenya, we were not sure how accessible this would be, but it was easy! The teachers were very patient with the kids and even allowed for extra lessons when needed! We couldn't ask for more! I will definitely consider enrolling the kids at funtech again.

My 8 year old loved the Minecraft with Mods virtual camp. In the week running up to the start of the virtual camp start set up was guided, easy and what little help that was needed was swift when required. Once the camp was started he needed no help at all to get online each day. Tuto

A great camp which was throughly enjoyed

Will, the instructor, brought the group together and took them on a wonderful journey through building out all the minecraft modifications. A great two weeks for our children.

Ayaan had a super time doing this course. He learned so many new skills and enjoyed it thoroughly.
He said his tutor was amazing and great teacher.

He has already asked me to sign him up again next year!

My son really liked the course and enjoyed the format and the content. His tutor was very good and knowledgeable. Overall very good first experience in coding and programming leading to more- I will definitely be booking more courses.

The teacher Will was amazingly patient with the cheerfully chatty kids. And got the course done.

I'm happy that i can use this as stepping stone to getting my daughter coding, starting from a point of joy.

Questionable pricing policy

Adding £100 to the cost and then offering a £100 discount seems really quite questionable...

I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand. The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course wi

I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand.
The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course with a tech support expert.

Matt was excellent at tailoring the content to the level of the group and very good at giving 1-to-1 support - he was extremely helpful with more advanced concepts and taking it beyond the limitations of the software.

Only area for improvement would be to find a way to pass complex technical issues (with one student) on to a support person so that it doesn't hold up the rest of the class.
It would also be nice to do some sort of show-and-tell on the last day where each child could show the others what they have created.

overall though it was a great 2 weeks
