I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand. The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course wi

I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand.
The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course with a tech support expert.

Matt was excellent at tailoring the content to the level of the group and very good at giving 1-to-1 support - he was extremely helpful with more advanced concepts and taking it beyond the limitations of the software.

Only area for improvement would be to find a way to pass complex technical issues (with one student) on to a support person so that it doesn't hold up the rest of the class.
It would also be nice to do some sort of show-and-tell on the last day where each child could show the others what they have created.

Alexia is an 11 yr old non-native English speaker complete beginner with games and screens. Probably wrongly, we were obsessed about keeping her away from screens and did a great job. The consequence was that her gap with any other regular kid is very wide when it comes to tech. We came to the conclusion there is no escape from the tech world for the young generation and wanted to introduce her to the space. I had been following Funtech for a while since a leaflet landed in my box. Alexia was initially registered for a summer residential camp. We were very happy that Funtech was making a great effort to still trying to deliver the programs despite the cancellation due to the virus.
So the course started and Alexia really, really struggled. She couldn't cope with the content, the program and the pace. Funtech was extremely honest in providing very valuable feedback while coming up with an option so Alexia could continue to learn at her own pace. I would not get into details but everything was about Alexia gaining a positive learning experience and Funtech was very flexible and very generous. Cato, the teacher was excellent, very patient and always advancing in content despite minimal feedback from Alexia. Alexia loved the class and was always looking forward to the next session despite her struggles. Mamta was reaching to us daily to discuss the situation and to make sure things were going in the right direction. Adrian also was very helpful.
Now is up to Alexia to continue to learn and, we hope she does that and, comes back to funtech for a different course but for sure she has been given a great introduction to a complete new world. With sincere thanks to all in Funtech. Jose

Course was fantastic. By the end of the week, my son could code confidently in Python. The virtual teaching worked very well and my son enjoyed the feedback and challenges given by his tutor.

I'm happy that i can use this as stepping stone to getting my daughter coding, starting from a point of joy.

I was really impressed that I got two calls to remind Ava to complete the feedback form at the end of the day, and to start early(!) the next day when she signed off accidentally early one day. He's been very excited to show us what he has done everyday, and even spending extra hours outside of the camp hours prepping for his own project. Hope you keep the virtual camp even after the pandemic, as we are not very close to the physical camp location, and it worked brilliantly.

Given that I required individual support sessions to pre-install the required software I was very grateful for your exceptional care and service. When our internet connectivity let us down one day during the course, your representative followed up with a call and offered an extra one-on-one time for our son to catch up on the missed learning the very next day, which I believe goes above and beyond a usual level of support. We were big fans of Funtech residential camps before the lockdown, but having tried the virtual camp now, I can hundred percent recommend it to any parent!

Yousef has learnt many new things on this course.
There was no assessment at the end to see what he's absorbed or notes taken to ensure that he doesn't forget them.
I know the teacher asked them to take notes but he didn't follow up to see that they did.

Great course which Archie enjoyed AND learnt some skills from. The course leader, Sam, was excellent and had the patience of a saint.

My 14year old son had a good basic grasp of Python, but really found himself accelerating on this game development course, and it has really further ignited his interest in programming. He found the instructor very helpful and enjoyed the whole 2 weeks.

The trainer was friendly and was very attentive. at the end I can say that we have benefited a lot in improving his confidence to code in python and working through his projects. Now he seems quite eager to take the next step.
I would also like to call out pro-activeness of FunTech team, on our first class we got late to login and Trainer called on my mobile phone to ensure that everything is okay or if we need any help. He also gave individual help through remote learning platform and answered all the questions that my son came up with. As a dad I am happy with my investment.
Moving forward I would also like to see, if FunTech handover some follow up projects to kids and establish some sort of community forum where these children can stay in touch and keep working through those projects in order for them to go for next level camp.

After a lesson in which she panicked, the Funtech team called us to offer a recap of the lesson and some extra support - this was all it took to reassure her. She has looked forward to each lesson, has learned tons and has finished the course brimming with ideas that she now knows how to put into action. We have been wanting our son to do a camp with FunTech for a long time but unfortunately they didn't have a location in our area. The virtual camp offering has really opened up the courses for everyone. Adam, our son, absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to join the course each day, the tutor was brilliant and Adam was enthusiastically showing me what he had done each day. One day he hadn't quite grasped the concept fully and FunTech proactively gave me a call offering a 1-2-1 session to ensure he wasn't missing out in any way, it really is a first class operation. We have already booked another camp and are looking at term time as well, we are excited to see where this goes.

Great follow on course

This was an excellent follow up course to the Python Coder. It enabled the coding skills acquired in the coding course to be utilised to create a fun game. Our son really enjoyed it.

Our son had a great time doing this online course and finished with a game which took me back to the good old Space Invaders days. The tutor, Joe, was attentive and responsive and, overall, the two weeks were a great success.

Our 9yo daughter took a 2 week morning Roblox studio course. She had played Roblox a lot but never made any games herself. This course was a fantastic introduction. She loved it so much that she did not want to take breaks!

The instructor was excellent and there was a good balance of independent work, teaching (often via videos) and discussion. It occasionally seemed like some students dominated the conversation though - it would be good if the instructor could manage this better.

Overall, highly recommended.
