Minecraft was launched in 2009, and since then has become one of the biggest gaming successes the world has ever known. It has been estimated that there are 91 million players of Minecraft globally.
As a game, it offers kids an unrivalled approach to creativity, challenges, even computer programming. Children can design their own worlds, mods, and create logic-based challenges using Minecraft Redstone.
FunTech was one of the first educators to recognise that there was a demand for offering online Minecraft coding courses. We have been running virtual lessons for many years now and have grown to become one of the leaders in online Minecraft coding classes for kids.
Choose an online Minecraft coding course
We currently offer two kids’ online Minecraft coding class options, for ages ranging between 7 to 12 years old. You can find out more about each of our online programming courses below:
Online Minecraft with Mods – ages 7 to 10
This online Minecraft coding course will teach them how to mod (modify) Minecraft by understanding how blocks, items, creatures and the Minecraft world itself works in the back-end.
After that, their online Minecraft tutor will help them discover how to create and configure properties, functions and textures of these fundamental elements of the game.
For example, they’ll learn that functions determine how a mod performs, and that they’re only limited by their own imagination. Which means they can be as wide ranging as making it rain sheep or creating an explosion when you step on a special block!
In short, once your child has mastered modding in our Minecraft online lessons they will be able to design, implement and test a variety of different types of mods – unleashing an unlimited number of exciting possibilities to explore.
Online Minecraft Engineering – ages 9 to 12
In our online Minecraft Redstone course, kids will be taken on a fascinating journey through the fundamentals of electronics. They’ll start with the simple concept of binary, where any two states (e.g. up and down, or on and off) can be represented by a 0 or 1.
Then, using truth tables, (a mathematical table used for logic,) they’ll learn about the different logic gates and their possible outputs. Once these gates have been mastered, your child will combine them to create real-world applications, giving them a deeper understanding of how everything reduces back down to Binary.
As their virtual course progresses, the Minecraft Redstone tutor will teach more complex tasks.
How an online Minecraft coding class works
Our tutor-led virtual Minecraft lessons are designed to keep your child mentally active and engaged, all from the safety of your own home.
As a company, we’ve been at the forefront of delivering tech lessons for more than 12 years. We have a team of expert Minecraft tutors who understand the game, platform, and coding elements back to front.
When you sign up to an online Minecraft coding class for kids, do so safe in the knowledge that all class are run through the safe and secure FunTech Virtual Learning Platform. To see how the technology work, please watch our video below:
Real classes, live lessons, expert tutors
Unlike other online Minecraft lessons you might have seen, ours are not pre-recorded classes. Instead your child can login, view the schedules, and can get started learning Minecraft coding in a virtual classroom environment with other kids and a real tutor.
The FunTech teachers will lead your child through the course syllabus, being able to offer guidance and real-time feedback as the lesson progresses. The FunTech Minecraft tutors are live and always on hand to help and analyse your child’s progress.
Kids are able to ask questions, hear the answers, and more:
- Instant audio and text communication.
- Ability to chat with the class or privately to a tutor.
- Kids can follow tutors through the course and see practical demonstrations
- Screen sharing and remote access available.
- A maximum of 12 students per classroom for focussed lessons.
- Immediate and intuitive feedback from tutors.
With classes being very small (sizes range from 4 to 12 kids), it means our tutors can give your child the attention needed to learn how to code with Minecraft.
As our tutors are able to see your child’s screen constantly so can guide and step in at any point. It also means they can focus on helping your child if they start to get distracted, or complete tasks before their classmates.
It’s what sets our online Minecraft coding courses apart from so many others – it’s real time, with real tutors, and real classmates. You can’t learn in a better environment than that, other than a physical classroom setting.
What your kid will need:
To take part in the FunTech virtual Minecraft coding classes, your child will need the following equipment:
- Computer with Microsoft Windows installed.
- Headphones and a microphone.
- Stable internet connection.
If you would like to know more or get your kid started with our virtual classes, learn more using the buttons at the top of the page.
Once your child has been signed up to our virtual Minecraft coding course, they will get their own online account, can then login, view the schedule, and join their class. All students are guided through the coding classes by an expert tutor.
Why choose FunTech’s online coding classes?
We truly believe we are very different to other online learning platforms. We have been in the business of teaching kids tech since the 1990s, and have evolved into one of the most well-respected companies in the UK.
FunTech are able to offer you and your child:
- A higher quality of tuition: our tutors and quality of delivery are no different to how they would be if your kid was in one of our physical summer camp locations.
- A better way of learning: our tutors are able to see your child’s screen at all times, which compared to a physical classroom environment, offers far better tutoring feedback and education.
- A head start in coding: your child can get ahead with essential coding skills which could help them not only with future schooling, but also a potential career in technology and video game design.
