Fantastic learning journey

The 3D Game Design course was packed and informative. You get a day of designing your own game with your knowledge and the teachers are always here to help.

Really Fun course

Made my own videogame and I understand Unreal Engine so much better. All in all, really great course.

Part 1.

The course was really good and interesting, my parents said they were amazed and they said it was really fun, and i thought so too, i could make my own little games so my parents could play it, it was really worth it!

My Virtual camp experience

I have absolutely loved my time here when I did my virtual camp. We learned how to make games with a game engine called Unreal Engine. The tutors who teach you give lots of information and can explain it in different ways to help you understand. My overall rating is 10/10.

Completely Worth it.

I enjoyed this camp alot. It got me from low understanding of any of the things we were using to full understanding in 5 days. I recommend funtech.

I greatly enjoyed the camp, the tutor was very helpful during the lessons, being able to balance keeping the lesson going and covering enough content for the day, while avoiding leaving anyone behind the whole group. The lessons were very interactive, understandable, and fun!

I think overall this camp was amazing. The standard of the work and all the resources that we used were very high. My teacher was very informative and was very helpful. He knew a lot about coding and how to debug my work. This camp was great and I highly recommend it. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this camp. I did Java Coder Part 1, with half days for a week. Despite them being 3 hours long, it didn't feel like it. My tutor, Tanisha Bhogal, was kind, patient and helpful. If you didn't understand an explanation the first time, she explained again in a different way to help you understand it. I also enjoyed the coding aspect, especially the end project. It was a fun challenge and brought everything we had learnt throughout the week in a fun game to code.

Funtech is amazing!

I absolutely love Funtech. Every single one of my courses has been exceptional, I have learnt loads and had a lot of fun. I had a problem with the assets and my computer, but Funtech sorted this out, and even called my mum at the end of the day. I couldn't ask for more.

FUNTECH

It was a fun week as I could learn more about coding and different statements such as while loops.

Why you should do funtech

Funtech was one of my favourite things i have done so far in 2023. I really recommend doing this if you want to learn about GCSE python while having immense amounts of fun and being able to make new friends along the way. Thank you Ben

10/10 would recommend. I had a very good time during this course and Harry in my opinion is definitely one of the teachers I have learnt the most from and one that I will not forget.

This course was very fun but I think more than anything, the work of our tutor made the biggest difference. Midway through the course he gave us a python cheat sheet; he was the best tutor and he very clearly outlined everything, especially the trickier concepts, which were explained well yet concisely. Learning with hm was very fun and very interactive, and if we ever needed help with anything he was happy to. The (self-proclaimed) best tutor taught us this camp and I am very glad he did.

The camp was fun and very helpful for me to start learning the basics of Java. The online format worked well and is a good solution for people who cannot travel to the places the camps are held. My teacher was very informative and clear. She also answered all of my questions.

Great course! I loved learning lots about unity and in such a short amount of time! I now know a lot of things in unity and a lot about c#!

My daughter enjoyed Hackathon very much and felt that she learned a lot during that week. The staff and the instructors were wonderful. My only issue with the Barbican location is that they were stuck indoors the entire day due to the lack of outdoor space. It happened to be one of the hottest weeks of the summer too. Ideally, it would have been great to have some proper screen breaks outside, but I understand why that was difficult, given the location.

He would have liked to do this all week long, as an addition to the coding! He thought the staff were wonderful. For a child that doesn't like being away from home, he enjoyed himself and in the latter part of the week didn't feel the need to call home in the evening. My son took part in the 3D Game design virtual week course. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and was engaged throughout and has developed new skills and confidence while completing the course. The course has ignited his imagination and boosted his enthusiasm for game design. The tutor was very supportive, knowledgeable and competent and inspirational. On the final day doing their individual projects it would have been nice for the students to have enough time to show each other their game design to see how others had used the course to develop their own game ideas. Overall, the course was a huge success and I would definitely recommend it to those interested in game design.

We live in California, USA. And we are so happy to have found this camp. My two sons (14 and 11 yrs old) attended Python - Coder Camp and 3D Game Design - Developer during the summer break. And they both loved it. It was an amazing experience for them. They loved the camp, teachers, daily delicious meals, fun activities and of course developing and coding! Everyone was very professional, friendly and helpful. We will be back for camp next summer for sure. Thank you for everything!

Great systems in place for virtual teaching. We had no issues with connection.

My 12 year old daughter found the course useful, but as she was the only girl she did find it a little bit isolating at times. We definitely need more girls getting involved with this as it seems to be a very male dominated activity.

Unfortunately there were a few occasions throughout the course where the usual tutor was absent, through no fault of FunTech, they had to arrange some cover, which they did quickly and kept me informed when having to do so.

Had many calls from FunTech throughout the two week course to see how my daughter was getting on, it was reassuring to know that they wanted her to have a good experience and to see whether there was anything that could be done to improve it.

I have no doubt that we will be booking onto another course in the future.

Excellent week of learning

My son had a great week extending his coding knowledge. I am grateful that Funtech keep extending the syllabus so that he can do a new course each summer.

My son really enjoyed the 2 week (half day) virtual course on 3D gamning with Unreal engine. Funtech asked for a bit of pre-course prep from me as a parent (checking Broadband speed and computer spec - it was all reasonable to ask and fairly straightforward) and took 2x20mins.

We used childcare vouchers to pay (you need to pay upfront by card but then we got the money back quickly from Funtech once the childcare scheme had sent their payment). Without this option I do not think we would have booked the course.

Overall I was impressed with how my son remained engaged over the whole two weeks and he seems to have retained a real interest in the subject and learned other transferable skills. The person running the course seems to have struck a good balance between moments where they are all chatting and others when they are progressing the specific course elements.

Overall very good and certainly a good review from my son.

Fun Typer

Thr Fun Typer course content is pretty dry, but the course tutors made it fun for them and my son is now typing so much better, I would definitely recommend this course.
