Great Week!

This is my daughter's second Funtech residential and she is planning her third! She thoroughly enjoyed herself, the course seems perfectly tailored to the right balance of learning and downtime.

A phenomenal week

We were looking for a tech oriented summer camp and came across Funtech's offering. We were intrigued by the hackathlon which seemed to align with our son's inclinations. We decided to give it a try, not sure if the level would be adequate nor if the overarching experience would be worth organising

We decided to give it a try, not sure if the level would be adequate nor if the overarching experience would be worth organising an international journey.
We were blown away. The whole thing is beautifully organised, the location is superb, the instructors extremely competent and going to a great length to ensure that kids leared and had fun.
Our son was so enthusiastic that he is already asking to go back next year. Rarely we had such an all-great feedback from him. He is thrilled, and so we are.

The hackathon was really an extrordinary camp, and I really enjoyed my time. We learned everything, from how to use Linux to how to hack into a seperate device. I really enjoyed my time and I really would recommend this.

Excellent stuff all-round - with engaging, exciting tutors - and appropriately designed interactive course content to complement. FunTech provided all of the required equipment for the course - with everything we needed to get started pre-setup before we arrived. You can expect: - A teaching sty

Excellent stuff all-round - with engaging, exciting tutors - and appropriately designed interactive course content to complement. FunTech provided all of the required equipment for the course - with everything we needed to get started pre-setup before we arrived.

You can expect:
- A teaching style quite different from that in the classroom
- Productive learning environment
- Tutors who can connect well to you (many being at university)
- Opportunity to connect with others

If you feel a little put off by the vague course description - rest assured - there's plenty of content - "fundamentals" on a different level. When you're not learning, you'll be doing something else productive with your fellow students - plenty of students in my class decided to create their own (successful!) viruses. Brilliant evening activities and food at Tonbridge. There's something for everyone - you've just got to be engaged.

You'll also be able to meet quite a lot of new people - from all kinds of ages. Other than the course content, it's a chance to learn more about others - especially for residential students.

If you've got remotely any kind of attention span at all, this course will make you happy. I wouldn't be writing such a long review otherwise.

P.S. FunTech do accept childcare vouchers, if that makes a diffference.

HACKATHON

I learnt so much, the people and teachers were great and we had a great time! We had so much fun hacking eachother, other classes, and even teachers! The residential part was also great and the activities were incredible. More scuba would have been good.

This week was very fun as they taught me different things such as encrypting passwords. My tutors helped me with any sort of problems I had as well as teaching me extra things such as viruses. Outside the lesson was also very fun as it included fun games such as capture the flag and cross the channe

Very good camp

Everything was very good and we learned quite much on hacking. The food was good. The bedroom was good. The activities were good.

I had a great time

I enjoyed my stay here, the teachers were all so nice the activities were fun. And I know my visit next year will be just as good as this year if not better. :)

Good introduction to ip hacking on linux machines. Great location and proximty to central London.

This course was so much fun and I learnt a lot about Linux,Hydra,Nmap,Wireshark,Beef,Metaspoilt,Social Engineering. I Really loved hashing and cracking passwords and all the tutors were really nice. Very fun and interesting week, learnt a lot and had fun with tutors and other students. Well-structured day due to the frequent breaks and long lunch, the course was interesting and useful and there were very few technical issues. Day 5 was the best day because I got to put to use all of the skills

Well-structured day due to the frequent breaks and long lunch, the course was interesting and useful and there were very few technical issues. Day 5 was the best day because I got to put to use all of the skills and techniques I had learnt during the first four days and it felt satisfying when I completed each task.

Big thanks to my tutor Hibah for being kind, understanding and knowledgeable.

Would definitely recommend and 100% worth the money.

A good camp

This was really fun and I enjoyed learning all the Linux commands and using them to hack into multiple servers. I recommend this camp to everyone interested in cyber-security.

Amazing Week!

I found the Hackathon (Cyber Security) Camp amazing. I had so much fun, while also learning a lot about ethical hacking.

We had so much fun hacking, we learnt a lot about stuff such as FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and HTTP (Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol). We even made some jokes about TPG (The Password Game). This course was amazing and I really recommend you do this, especially if you have prior coding experience. The camp had a lot of funny moments and I really enjoyed it.

Great club!

I’ve come here 3 times, and every time it gets better. I’d definitely recommend coming, because it taught me (and my friends) how to code properly. The staff are really nice too.

Hackathon was a really fun class! It was a little difficult at times but the teachers were really helpful and always made sure we understood everything. I’d definitely come to funtech again.

Cybersecurity Hackathon

This was great for my daughter of 16yrs. It was very engaging. She came home feeling tired. She learnt about vulnerabilities and a bit about using linux and VMs and networking. The instructors were good.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at FunTech's Hackathon course. My tutors (David and Toru) were very helpful. Toru was very good at making kahoots about our hackathon course and other general trivia and fun games in for our breaks and helping out. David was good at helping us out and fixing any problems

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at FunTech's Hackathon course. My tutors (David and Toru) were very helpful. David was good at helping us out and fixing any problems we had with our commands. It was a very inclusive course as you did not need to know anything about the topic, and came out knowing lots. I absoloutely enjoyed the course but it was sometimes quite hard. But these hardships were quickly resolved with David or Toru helping us out! Overall, I would definitely give this course a 5/5.

However, one problem i had was the fact that we kept having to change server, as each one was a different level of hardness for hacking. But we got used to it eventually

I enjoyed this FunTech the most out of all the Funtech camps I have done. The work is sometimes challenge but I received a once-in-a-lifetime experience in term of education and info/knowledge. I managed to gel with some of my classmates despite the course only lasting 5 days due to Kahoots and other games. They tutors were amazing and helped us in times of need. I would recommend bringing a notebook as they provide so much information and material. Even my parents were very interested in what I was learning.

Great place to spend a week

Both my tutors were amazing and with one providing entertainment during the breaks and one who was amazing at helping with the course. Had such a good time and other people should definitely do this as well (if you are in to tech as it is quite information heavy) but great fun.

I can't think of anything to improve because the course was really helpful and covered most areas. Using programs like John, Hydra, Metasploit and BeEF was enjoyable.

Thanks David and Toru for a great experience. You are the GOATs.

My daughter enjoyed Hackathon very much and felt that she learned a lot during that week. The staff and the instructors were wonderful. My only issue with the Barbican location is that they were stuck indoors the entire day due to the lack of outdoor space. It happened to be one of the hottest weeks

Ideally, it would have been great to have some proper screen breaks outside, but I understand why that was difficult, given the location.

Best Experience

Would like to thank everyone for an exceptional, amazing, enjoyable week for my daughter. The courses were at the high professional level, very informative and age appropriate. My child felt safe, entertained, the food was Amazing. I would highly recommend the residential camp for your child.

Great experience

My 10 year-old had a great time at Tonbridge. The camp was well-organized, with a good mix of classes, fun activities and regular timed- breaks.

A wonderful experience overall.
