My son loved this camp! It was the first time he was doing a virtual camp and he had a lot of fun and interactions with the teacher and the other kids. For us there was no option to do a residential or day camps as we live abroad now so the virtual course gave him the opportunity to do something that he loves in his mother tongue.

He enjoyed so much that he is currently doing another one!

My daughter Eirinn (11) did the Daytime Camp Roblox Game Developer course in August. I asked her what she thought of it and she said, "It was really cool. I learned a lot of stuff that I didn't know before. The instructors were very kind and helpful and explained things very well. I liked everything Dad". We travelled over from Northern Ireland for this and rolled it into a little Father and Daughter bonding holiday in London. Money well spent.

We would certainly consider signing her up for another one next year, although I'd like to see FunTech consider offering camps like this in Northern Ireland and the Republic.

I cannot speak highly enough about FunTech. What an absolutely awesome company that helps children and teens with coding and tech.

They have a range of courses (although you have to book early) that I wish I had when I was younger. But my ten year old daughter joined for a two week's session on 3D Game Designing using Unreal Engine over the summer and she loved it.

She has been learning python coding since she was six so it was nice for her to do something different. And even though she had a wobble in the middle of the course, the company was absolutely fantastic and supported her with some one to one private lessons to get her to the end.

My daughter wrote: "To Connor. Thank you for giving me 1 to 1s to help me understand Unreal Engine. I really appreciate it. I am really happy with the end result of my game and I am hoping to add many more levels and upgrade my current ones to make my game way more interesting."

@Sheineez Barber I applaud you for setting up such an awesome company and excellent customer service.

As a result, I have shared with many friends and I will book Georgie onto her next course soon and every year from here on. 10 out of 10...

We were so grateful that my son Krish got the opportunity to experience the residential camp at Tonbridge - Hackathon Cybersecurity.

The venue is stunning and it is a wonderful experience to learn in such a beautiful setting. Krish has been a student of term time classes with Funtech for a number of years.

I can truly say that Funtech is more than a corporate entity, everyone, all the staff, from the helpers to the Founder Sheineez genuinely care for the children and it is very refreshing to see and exceptionally reassuring as a parent. I could leave Krish with the confidence and full faith that he will be safe and engaged during his week long stay at Hackathon.

Krish was excited by what he learnt coupled with the confidence he gained from making new friends. I would love Krish to attend more camps and my only regret is we did not send him sooner!

My son is generally a pretty happy and enthusiastic kid. He is also autistic and dyspraxic so I am always a bit anxious trying something new. I needn’t have worried for a second.

Everything about the FunTech holiday club was absolutely superb, from the Fasttrack registration that let me give the team a heads up about what accommodations would make the experience better for my son, through to the drop off and the set up. I have never seen him as happy.

We will definitely be back!

Felix had a brilliant time on the Minecraft Mod course. He'd never done anything like this before and we were a bit worried that it would be too much for him or not engaging enough to keep him seated but he was up at the crack of dawn every morning raring to go.

The course was well structured, age appropriate, and when things got a bit confusing his tutor was quick to reassure and help. When he accidentally deleted everything he'd created his tutor went above and beyond to recover his work for him which was much appreciated.

Felix learnt a lot, gained new confidence in creating his own characters, blocks and objects in Minecraft and has been using all his screen time since making more.

Many thanks for a great couple of weeks.

Amazing

My son had a great time at the Python camp. He learned a lot and wishes to continue at the next occasion. Tonbridge school is an amazing place to stay and the accommodation and the food were good, he said. The teachers and staff are qualified and pay attention to any boys’ needs. Thank you to all.

It’s hot and stuffy and not suitable for kids with allergies . Although I was assured there will be fans in the room and windows and doors opened for ventilation. It’s not the case. The door was open but the classroom was stuffy and super hot.

We were affected by the rail strike the week my child had the course . There was no provision for on line learning for him. That was poor support especially when we have just gone through more than two years of pandemic - I would have thought fun tech of all places would have the flexibility.

On the plus points - staff members were courteous and my son seemed to have enjoyed it.

Toby had a great time at the 3D games Design week, he enjoyed it a lot and had quite a decent game by the end of the week that he was reasonably pleased with – important to me, to know that he found some friends to play with in the breaks which was really key to making it much more interesting and stimulating.
We find coming to Barbican super convenient and the venue was great (maybe playground a bit small, but I didn’t actually see it?).
I did think maybe the more round table room layout you used to have at City Girls school was a bit better than the classroom lecture set up of the room, I am not sure Toby cared that much but I think he maybe got to know less people this time (?), he commented to me that all the helper/teachers were so very kind and lovely – this has always been the case and it really makes Funtech so good, so overall we absolutely love FunTech thank you.
I noticed only that we didn’t get a t shirt this time at the end. I wonder if you do ice breaker stuff at the start of the week with the kids in the break, maybe some outdoor games or learning each others names or something could make the group bond a bit more easily, Toby is pretty shy and it would possibly help him – he always gets to know the people sitting right next to him the best otherwise.
For Toby, he really is devoted to Minecraft and Redstone still, even though he is 13 – he would definitely come along if you ran a more grown up Minecraft course because he is now too old and has done them all, it looks like his options are to do something more like a coding course eg. Python as a 13 year old.
Many thanks and long may Funtech continue, we have been coming every year and went to everything we could think of so far, hopefully we can find a good course at Barbican again next summer!

Wonderful first camp experience

My son attended FunTech for the Minecraft Mod camp as his first sleep away camp experience. He adored it and can't wait to come back next year.

Fun at FunTech

Chloe thoroughly enjoyed her Python Coding residential camp. She has done a little bit of Python coding before so the tutors adapted her tasks to make them a little more challenging. She learnt some new coding skills but, most notably of all, she had fun !

It was probably her favourite camp ever

Ayesha loved Funtech and also enjoyed Lego camp last year.
She has since been coding at home, and learnt a lot at camp.
She also enjoyed working with and learning from the other students at Funtech.

I was really happy with everything about Austin’s touch typing course. He had such a great time with everyone and the teachers he was working with were absolutely perfect. Young, enthusiastic and really motivating. They put so much effort into make sure the children had a good time whilst also learning valuable skills. At first I did think that the course was very expensive, but to be honest, in hindsight – it was worth every penny. He even won a £60 amazon voucher for coming top of his group which was such a lovely generous surprise and completely unexpected. I will be booking again and I will recommend you to all of my friends.

Hackathon Northwood 1st-5th August 2022

Hackathon was a great introduction to cyber security and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was delivered efficiently, professionally and with aplomb by the Funtech team right from enrolment through to completion.
I would highly recommend this course to others.

My daughter joined the Minecraft Mod Developer course this summer for a week. She loved it! She bounded in every morning and didn’t want to leave a minute earlier than necessary. She is pretty familiar with playing Minecraft, yet this course helped her to to combine her creativity with new technical knowledge to create her own gaming characters, and some very cool building blocks. She wants to try coding next year - and her younger sister is desperate to join her. The venue was very conveniently located for us in the Barbican, the staff pleasant and knowledgeable. I felt my daughter was in good hands all week.

Perfect week!

My two sons had a perfect week with FunTech, they really enjoyed the lessons, the instructor was kind and knowledgeable, they learned a lot. They will be back next year!

Great fun

My son really enjoyed the Python camp. He learned so much over the week and is now feeling really confident going into his ICT classes at school next year. The instructor was particularly nice and patient and made it a really happy week.

This was my son’s first Funtech course and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He learned a lot about game design and he’s now enrolled on another programming course. Definitely worth it !

Joshua attended the 1-week residential course 'Hackathon - Cyber Security' at Tonbridge School. Joshua enjoyed himself thoroughly, and the course was everything we'd hoped for. The course has useful content as the kids understand the vulnerability of networks to hacking, learn about the concept of cybersecurity and how to distinguish between different hacking types. The course equips them to an extent with the skills to perform certain tasks related to cybersecurity.
The tutors were knowlegeable and friendly including those part-time tutors who are still undergraduate students.
The facilities were superb, including the single occupancy dormitory and the airconditioned classrooms, and even though the hardware was not always up to the requirements of the course, there were only minor issues and Funtech is committed to source more powerful macines next time.
I could not comment much on the activities offered as my son preferred the option of "sit in the shade" in the afternoon rather than engaging in the field games, but given this year's very hot weather, this was not for the lack of the choice but due to his preference.
Thank you for running this course after Covid delays, my son enjoyed it a lot.

Our 10 year old returned today from the 3D game design residency at Tonbridge School. His experience has been extraordinary. We have never seen him so enthused about the way in which computing can be used. The teachers have managed to combine his innate love of narrative with the complexities of Unreal Engine. He made a game - a real computer game! Remarkable. We were nervous about him going away and not knowing anyone there, but he has forged some great friendships in just a few days. The opportunity to do scuba diving in the evening and play dodge ball were also highlights. All in all, we haven't heard a negative word. And of course, he wants to go back next summer. Thanks so much to everyone at funtech, I am really grateful our child was able to have this experience and would book it again in a heartbeat.

I loved it!

I loved it here at Funtech, everyday we learned something new and we got to create some kind of project using those codes.
And the tutors, Hafsa and Ben, helped us if we needed help.

This was my son’s first residential camp and after all the lockdowns, it was a huge step for him to go away from home for a week. When I booked him onto the course, it was because he needed help with his Python because he chose Computer Science as a GCSE, however what I hadn’t anticipated was the huge life learning experience and independence gained from doing a residential course. The pastoral team were utterly amazing. They kept the kids busy in the evenings and they had loads of opportunities to mix and let their hair down after learning Python during the day. My son said he feels much more confident in his skills and when I asked him if he would do it again, he said “I think so” this is huge for him because he normally fobs me off with an “I’ll think about it” in the hope I will forget the question! This is the whole package - an absolutely wonderful experience from top to bottom. Thank you!

My son had a brilliant week at the Tonbridge camp. The camp was really well organised, the guys running it were brilliant with the kids and seemed to have as much fun as the kids. I had forgotten to tell them one day that my son was going home with one of his friends on the course, and the camp leader called me to check it was ok as he'd heard from the boys this was happening, which I was really impressed with. My son absolutely loved the Minecraft- Modder course, he tells me he wants to go the camp every year until he's too old to go anymore! The location was fab for us, and being in an air conditioned room during the hot weather was a massive bonus! Only wish there was an option for a 4 day course, to fit around my working days.

My son enjoyed the beginner Python coding course

My son really enjoyed the course and made some friends. He made his own text based adventure game and is pretty excited about it. Looking forward to the next course.
Only one minor concern was that he had some connection issues but this was also experienced by others on the course.

Fantastic python coding course

My daughter took the beginners level python course and absolutely loved it. It was set at just the right level for her and she's keen on doing the next level.

Cyber Security Hackathon

My child really enjoyed this course. He has attended quite a few over the years eg Python, Java etc but he really loved this one. I would definitely recommend these courses.

My son attended Python Coder summer camp in Northwood and he loved it. He seems to have gained quite a bit of knowledge about Python and will definitely come back for level 2 sometime later.

3 D game design

My son really enjoyed his week of 3D game design. It went so quickly and he really looked forward to each day. He learnt a lot and ended the week with a brilliant game.

Virtual 3D gaming

My son loved this course, I was worried he might be a bit fed up at the end of the two weeks but he said it went by really quickly and he was completely engaged with every lesson.

The trainer had immense patience with her and the others in the class.
Warmly recommend it.
Mine wanted me around her whilst she did the class but every child is different.
