The atmosphere is amazing and it feels nothing like school. the tutor I had was very friendly and we had no questions unanswered. We were ahead of schedule so our tutor taught us more than the curriculum includes. At the end of the curriculum, we do a project on our own (which is very fun)but the tutor is just as helpful as always so it didn't feel like we were on our own at all at any point.

Extremely fun, educational virtual course

I've learnt a lot over these last 2 weeks. From not knowing a single command in Java, I have made a (rather involved) text-based adventure game, as well as games of mastermind, rock paper scissors, higher or lower, snake eyes, Fizzbuzz, 21 dares, and more! I've learnt a lot over these last 2 weeks. From not knowing a single command in Java, I have made a (rather involved) text-based adventure game, as well as games of mastermind, rock paper scissors, higher or lower, snake eyes, Fizzbuzz, 21 dares, and more! The best bit about this all, is that Funtech have made it all extremely fun. My tutor, like the tutors that I've had in my previous 4 courses, has been excellent, supportive, and professional. He has a great knowledge of Java, and is always very quick to help me fix errors in the code. The course that I did ran over 2 weeks, from 9-12:30 am (including two 15 minute breaks). This course was amazing and I would strongly recommend it.

It was the best it was taught well and I got all the help I needed.

A step forward in coding

I found my funtech course to be very entertaining, supportive and helpful. I went from knowing nothing about java to being able to translate text into morse code! Definitely worth it and will be doing another course at some point.

I really liked the camp I thought it was taught well and the tutor explained things well and what I learned was useful and I really enjoyed making my own programs

fun tech was a very fun course, i learnt quite a lot and i really enjoyed learning new things. at the end i felt really accomplished as i was able to create my own program and fix my own errors!

Thank you so much to Funtech and the coding teachers ! My son loved the coding lessons and really appreciated the remote format. Everything is smoothly organised and I booked already new coding lessons for this summer. I highly recommend this fun experience for kids

Java Coder

This was an excellent course....this was the first fun tech course that we have done and it won't be the last. The tutor was exceptionally clear and very engaging. We hope to do something similar over the summer.

Our son has learnt a lot and now he knows what a real scripting is about. He still loves. 3hrs were a lot but doable. It was amazing to see what he was able to do after a week of learning.

This is a brilliant, in-depth course that really solidified my understanding of Java and built on it a lot more. The tutor was very approachable and cleared up any misunderstandings quickly

My son started working on Java coding on Khan academy while in lockdown and asked if he could get a tutor to support him. He has been with funtech before so I signed him up for the 1 week virtual camp. At first, I had doubts he would even bother waking up in the mornings and sitting through the lesson till 5pm. To my surprise, every single day he woke up, ready to go and enjoyed every part of the lesson. The tutor knew how well to engage with the students to keep them motivated. He has been working on his project, which I hope he would reveal soon. I cannot wait for the next camps. It was one of the top highlights of lockdown for him

In the lesson, the tutor was very supportive and attentive, There was absolutely nothing that I didn't like or bothered me. I thought the course was at a good progressive pace, my Tutor was John (Johnny).

My 12 year old son has been learning to code online for a few years now and wanted to go a step further by learning from experts who could fill in the gaps in his knowledge and teach him to apply what he has learnt to real life projects.

Funtech met that need and then some!

I was especially impressed by the communication with parents, the attention they gave to the feedback from the students and the dedication of the tutors.
In my case I got 2 phone calls; one to discuss my son's feedback and another to arrange some extra time to help with his noughts and crosses project, which he really wanted to complete.

Thank you Funtech - we'll be back!

P.S Tim was actually the best tutor I've ever had! Compared to my other camps I think having three people a camp is absolutely much better!

I had lots of fun on this course, and I learnt loads of stuff. I had never done java before and only knew a bit about other coding languages (mainly HTML which didn't give me much help) but i understood the lessons well and took in loads of information. I loved how we used the code to do fun things after we learnt the concepts. Some of my favourited mini projects were rock paper scissors (in which i thought of an alternative way of coding the outcome of the game and got it to work) coding a shopping list (in which i made the list user input based instead of hard coded) and username+password where we made two hard coded variables with the Username and password, asked the user for them. If they got it right then Access Granted in the console and Access denied if one of them was wrong. To summarise, we went over lots of different code and put them to use in fun projects

In this course, I learnt so much about coding using Java, and found the course really challenging, as my teacher gave me lots of extension tasks. Would definitely do this course again!

Yousef has learnt many new things on this course.
There was no assessment at the end to see what he's absorbed or notes taken to ensure that he doesn't forget them.
I know the teacher asked them to take notes but he didn't follow up to see that they did.

Thank you for the virtual Java course: our son was enthusiastic throughout the week, learned a lot and was eager to share his projects with us. Given that I required individual support sessions to pre-install the required software I was very grateful for your exceptional care and service. When our internet connectivity let us down one day during the course, your representative followed up with a call and offered an extra one-on-one time for our son to catch up on the missed learning the very next day, which I believe goes above and beyond a usual level of support. We were big fans of Funtech residential camps before the lockdown, but having tried the virtual camp now, I can hundred percent recommend it to any parent!

Very fun and informative.

I learned alot on this course, and the tutor was very helpful. The instructions for setting up the coding environment and the meeting was very easy. I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to learn the basics of Java, or just wants to code their own thing.
