My daughter found the Indie Game Developer Camp very interesting and it has inspired her to consider developing further her skills in game design and development. The size of the class was small (3 children). The tutor was excellent! She was knowledgeable, greatly able at passing that knowledge at the level required by the students and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable.

I should also add that the technical support was, as usual, pro-active and very helpful whether in the computer set up stage or during the camp period.

Thank you ever so much to the Funtech Team for making the camp such as a valuable and positive experience for my daughter.

Learning coding can be pretty hard, however this series of 3hr lessons was very worth it and taught me a lot about indie game development. I've put a lot of planning into becoming a game developer and this was a huge step. Our tutor also helped us when there was debugging needed or we couldn't find something in a specific area. Overall, I highly recommend these coding lessons.

My thoughts on the Indie Game summer camp

I have thoroughly enjoyed this camp! Awen is a very helpful and insightful. She made the camp fun and interesting. She is also very kind and understanding. I would love to have her again as my tutor. I have learnt a lot and have the base skills and further on how to construct a game :D

Our Daughter enjoyed the course which was delivered over 2 weeks online. During the course, she was getting all the help she needed and was very pleased with the result.

Indie Game - Developer

This camp was really fun. For the first week, we learnt how to make our own Alien Defence game. For the second week, We could make whatever kind of game we wanted. You can be as imaginative and creative in this camp as you want.

Very fun!

I enjoyed this years funtech camp very much! Despite COVID and being not able to go there physically I still got help when I needed It and I made some games and learned some skills to make even more if the future! The Tutor was really nice too! Will be coming back next year (hopefully in person!)

Indie Game Coder

My son really enjoyed the indie game coder course using Construct3 and has clearly learned a lot. He is able to create simple games independently and has lots of ideas for how to push his new skill forward.

When I booked it, I thought the course seemed expensive but I do think it was well worth the money. My son was so engaged in designing and making his game and he’s learned a lot about the game designing process.
The children in my son’s group were moving at different rates which left my son with a couple of periods where he was waiting for guidance. Funtech recognised this and involved another tutor so that the kids could all continue to make progress.
The course content was great and the technology worked really well.
I’d highly recommend this course.

Excellent Course

I really enjoyed the course and enjoyed making the game, the tutors were really good especially Joe. I would highly recommend the course to people with a basic understanding of code (But you don't need experience with the game engine).

My son enjoyed his two week course. This is the second course he has done with Funtech. I hired a laptop and was very impressed with the end to end process, from delivery to follow up calls to the collection. Funtech, we'll be back to do more courses!

ONLINE EXPERIENCE

Due to the corona-virus we have to work virtually, but that's not necessarily a problem if your learning online with fun-tech, its still fun, organised, and interactive, there breaks so you're not infront of a computer all day, talking with other classmates, you can even talk privately to tutor...

Due to the corona-virus we have to work virtually, but that's not necessarily a problem if your learning online with fun-tech,
its still fun, organised, and interactive, there breaks so you're not infront of a computer all day, talking with other classmates, you can even talk privately to tutors, answering questions as a group, while using Remote Support Customer Client which is very efficient way to keep students on track.
The tutors are great and so are the courses.
if your looking for a place to expand your knowledge in the digital world then Fun-tech is the right summer camp for you.

I WOULD GIVE THIS COURSE 20 STARS IF I COULD. Construct three is soooooo easy to learn and use! You can go from near clueless in dev skills to able to create FULL ON, PUBLISHABLE GAMES TO START YOUR DEVELOPER CAREER. While it may have a more complex side to it that this course doesnt teach you, there are SO MANY ONLINE TUTORIALS. This course has launched me into the true fun and possibilities that come with construct 3 and game design on a whole. I personally plan to start working on my dream game when the time comes. The ONLY downside is that the Construct subscription service is a (slightly hefty) £70 per year. BUT IT IS WORTH IT (you can get the free version, but it has limitations). You no longer have to dream of being an indie developer. YOU CAN BE ONE NOW!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

It was great!

I now know how to make games. Thanks to Funtech I enjoy something new. It has made lockdown fun! I will definitely rate it to friends. For sure I will do another camp sometime!

A great 10 days of programing

It was a excellent course learning about sprites,behaviors,backgrounds,tilemaps,layer and layouts it was very fun learning to create or own games instead of just playing them and it was very easy to export them.i would go to this camp next year as well if i had a choice.

Ayaan had ‘the best time ever’ during this course. He developed a fantastic game with a leader board! Wow! He learned so much whilst having an insane amount of fun!

Our son has been talking about creating a mobile phone games for a few years, so he was very happy to finally have an opportunity to do so. He doesn't usual enjoy a camp where he doesn't know anyone, however, being virtual meant he had a chance to get to know them all immediately and settled in quickly. He's been very excited to show us what he has done everyday, and even spending extra hours outside of the camp hours prepping for his own project. Hope you keep the virtual camp even after the pandemic, as we are not very close to the physical camp location, and it worked brilliantly.

This was a very fun camp where I made a "space invaders" type of game. I think it is the second best funtech camp I've done, after minecraft with mods.

If I knew someone who wanted to learn how to code, I'd recommend Fun Tech because of how fast it teaches you things. my only complaint about this course is that it uses Construct, which has extremely confusing mechanics, but as this is a course for kids, they wouldn't understand C#, so that can't be changed.

I loved it!

I definitely enjoyed the course. I think they could improve by being able to help people so everyone would never have nothing to do. I think this might be hard because there is only one tutor but I still think there could be a way around it.

I love all the types of softwares that we have used and the way that they teach the course is easy with many fun and easy steps.

The starts a bit slow but its fun in the middle, the end I also don't like as we were making our own game and not learning

This camp was amazing. The tutor was friendly and I understood the course very well. the quality was excellent and it was extremely enjoyable this is truly the best tech camp.

It was good, I made a rip off Mario game. Joe was nice and showed us some useful websites and was generally good. I made a plat-former game too.
