A learning
journey
We assess each child as an individual and recommend a tailored tech learning path that will enable them to unlock their full potential.
This is where your child starts thinking like a developer, structuring data, importing libraries, and building logic that responds, remembers and evolves.
Across three inventive projects, creatures with changing traits, alien worlds that react to player input, and face-tracked avatars with emotional responses, they’ll learn to code with dictionaries, access external libraries, and store data that drives real behaviour.
Each lesson sharpens their ability to build systems that adapt over time. They’ll go beyond reacting to input and begin shaping how things behave behind the scenes, structuring programs that are flexible, efficient, and built to grow.
By the end of this year, your child will be writing code that uses data to make decisions, update itself, and power rich, responsive experiences.
Morph Lab | Raise. Grow. Evolve.
Welcome to the Morph Lab, where your child creates their very own digital creature, one that changes over time, remembers the past, and reacts to the world around it. This is no ordinary pet; it’s a living program shaped entirely by your child’s code.
Your child will learn to track and manage multiple variables, such as hunger, happiness, and energy. They’ll build functions that let their creature eat, play and rest, and use real-time logic to make it change its appearance and behaviour as these values shift. Their program will store data between sessions using JSON, calculate time away using timestamps, and update the creature accordingly.
They’ll design a full user interface, complete with interactive buttons, animated mood indicators, and creature sprites that evolve in real time. From sound effects and music to multiple creature choices and custom traits, each feature they add gives their creature more personality.
By the end of this course, your child will have built a self-updating, persistent digital pet that remembers how long it has been since it was last seen and will know how to code interactive systems that adapt, evolve and respond to the passage of time.
We know that learning doesn’t always fit neatly into 50-minutes. Some topics take longer to grasp, and sometimes students simply need space to ask questions or work through ideas at their own pace.
That’s why every FunTech lesson includes an optional 30-minute extension, built in from the start. It’s not just for the student’s benefit; it also gives our expert tutors the time they need to give proper attention and support, without the pressure of rushing off to their next class.
It means your child can leave each lesson feeling confident, with everything covered in a single session, which is especially helpful for busy families juggling packed schedules.
In most cases, this built-in time is all that’s needed. On rare occasions, we may recommend a separate prep session, but that’s very much the exception rather than the rule.

Alien Terrain | Shape. Trigger. React.
Welcome to the Alien Terrain Lab, where your child codes the logic behind a reactive world, one that simulates alien landscapes, hazardous floor tiles, and programmable terrain features that come to life with code.
In this course, your child isn’t coding a character or a rover; they’re building the environment itself. Using 2D lists and dictionaries, they’ll design a fully interactive level system where each tile has its own type, behaviour and reaction. Lava tiles can burn or be cooled. Collectables can be scanned and picked up. Walls will block paths, while special zones can trigger hidden effects.
This is their first time working with 2D lists, a powerful way to represent a tile-based map, and combining them with functions and data structures to manage how each part of the world behaves. The rover becomes a testing tool: its movements allow them to trigger and test how the environment responds.
By the end of this course, your child will have built a complete alien terrain system that responds to input, updates in real time, and behaves intelligently based on the map design, and will understand how to build, test and extend interactive systems using 2D lists, functions and data-driven logic.

Avatar Lab | Design. Detect. Reflect.
Welcome to Avatar Studio, where your child creates a digital companion that mirrors their every expression. Whether it’s a jelly blob, a floating orb or a grumpy robot, they’ll design their own on-screen avatar and code it to react in real time using face and emotion tracking.
Your child will learn to code with a live webcam input, integrating OpenCV and emotion detection tools like DeepFace and dlib. They’ll use functions, conditionals, dictionaries and data mapping to connect facial expressions to visual outcomes, all while handling real-world input data from the webcam.
They’ll bring their avatar to life with facial expressions that change from happy to sad to surprised, code logic to move features like mouths and eyes, and add customisation options for backgrounds, headgear and body styles, all triggered by what the webcam sees.
By the end of this course, your child will have built a fully interactive avatar that reacts to their emotions in real time, and will understand how to combine live data, AI tools and visual coding to create responsive digital systems.
Note: All face tracking runs locally on your child’s device. No webcam data is stored or shared online.

FAQs
A virtual class is a scheduled interactive online lesson delivered by FunTech.
All our virtual software is Citrix driven and so extremely safe
All students receive a virtual orientation lesson before the start of their course.
For each lesson, your child will receive an email invitation containing a link allowing them to log onto our virtual classroom. We schedule a maximum of four students who are predominately based in the UK, however, a few of our students have moved abroad due to parents work commitments and therefore log in from further afield.
The lessons themselves are the exact same as is delivered in a physical classroom. Through our virtual classroom environment, your child has the option to raise their hand, ask questions and also speak to the other students in their class (though we do have a mute all option '- just in case!)
FunTech teachers are able to pass control of their monitor to an individual student or share it amongst all the students. With permission, we can take control of a students' monitor to demonstrate concepts, share common mistakes or outstanding work as we would in a physical classroom.
