Ted.com: Ideas worth spreading

26th April, 2013

Have you visited Ted.com yet?

It’s a fascinating window on how technology and science are shaping our future, as you watch videos of the world’s most brilliant and original thinkers talking about their ideas.

“If children have interest then education happens” Arthur C. Clarke

Check out the fun talk by Sugata Mitra (the winner of the 2013 TED Prize). He noticed good teachers didn’t want to teach in the world’s most deprived areas - where the children most need education. So he embedded computers into walls in the slums of New Delhi, India to see if kids could use technology to teach themselves. The results are amazing.

Sugata Mitra talk

When I grow up I want to be…

Sugata tells the story of a young boy who, after watching 12 Ted talks on a computer, decided he didn’t want to be a footballer any more. Now he wants to become Leonardo Da Vinci. That’s the power of Ted.com

Technology that inspires

At FunTech, we use technology to inspire kids too. We teach children all over the country, including those at boarding school, in virtual lessons (thanks to our natty Citrix software). They log in for an hour or so a week and we use our love of technology to challenge them, expand their horizons and prepare them for exam success. After all, technology’s only going to get more important in the future, and the sky’s the limit.
