Stepped Approach
Leading the Way
(Typical age range 9+ years)

There are 9 courses in the Stepped Approach (SA) Series, each taking a term to master. They are business application based and delivered to a very high level. These courses are dynamic and packed full of essential skills which will guarantee that FunTech students are ahead of the game.

This course has been developed to progress from Junior Launch Pad Academy - however - many of our students successfully complete this course starting from scratch.

Course Description

  • Uses Adobe Fireworks: this is an advanced graphics course that teaches your child all the standard and advanced tools common to graphics applications.
  • Includes the difference between vector and bitmap images; creating templates, symbols and libraries to make graphic production more efficient ;and the difference between all the different file formats.
  • Upon completion of this course your child will be able to compose, manipulate and recreate complex graphics.

Course Description

  • Uses Adobe Flash: this is an advanced animation course using Flash CS6 and ActionScript 3. Youngsters learn the art of animation including learning how to create a ‘walk and talk’ cycle – if you’re in the industry you’ll know how tough these are!
  • FunTechsters then have their first taste of coding using ActionScript 3.0, which enables the animation to be interactive.

Course Description

  • An advanced website design course utilising Adobe DreamWeaver.
  • We start with the history and inner workings of The Internet and a thorough understanding of the functions of protocols used. We then move onto creating editing and uploading, using HTML 5, CSS (Internal & External) using different FTP methods (we also work on WYSIWYG application to design websites).
  • Once FunTechsters are comfortable with editing and publishing their sites, we swiftly move onto introductory coding in JavaScript and PHP.

  • Using Microsoft Word, this course covers advanced word processing skills, enabling students to create slick and professional documentation.
  • Children will learn using columns, watermarks, endnotes and footnotes; working with images, shapes and Smart Art.
  • Collaboration plays an important part in the work environment and here children will learn how to compare documents, apply and track comments, mail merge, macros and master documents, just to mention a few.
